Cyber security is the protection of computer data from theft, damage and disclose.
With the Covid-19 pandemic engulfing the world, companies have moved from physical work to online operations.
This has reduced the cost of operations; however, it has also exposed organization’s data to cyber-attacks…
One of the causes of cyber-attacks is the human behavior.
More often than not, individuals are lazy to use strong passwords, some even go ahead to use one password for different platforms.
You find an individual using one password for his Facebook account, email, twitter, online bank account and many Others.
This is very dangerous, as it makes the work of the “bad guys” easy.
As individuals, we share a lot of personal information online, this also puts our lives at risk as it makes very easy for someone to find you especially those who have bad motives.
For example, you find someone sharing a lot of information about them on Facebook, information like date of birth, location, work place, relatives and many others.
This is a lot of data that can be used to tarnish your name or to hack your bank account- especially the online bankers like me.
Protecting information from being unauthorized users should be every organization’s first priority because the cost of data theft is high.
Just as the old adage says, prevention is better than cure.
Preventing cyber-attacks is the most effective way-and one of them is multi-factor authentication using strong passwords is the only effective way of prevention.
